WAIPA AMATEUR ATHLETIC CLUB.

The third annual meeting in connection with the above club was held in the Reserve, Alexandra, yesterday, and was largely attended. A number of people were attracted .to Cambridge, on account ' of the balloon ascension, otherwise the attendance would have been much.larger,.,'The,arrangement? for the meeting were well formed, and the energetic lion. sec. Mr, C., Bowden, together with the various- members of the committee who assisted must be complimented on the success which attended their efforts. The racing in all the events was very interesting, and a glance at the times will show that the winners had to travel. Before the last race, Mr A, F. /Burton, the amateur walking champion of New Zealand, gave an exhibition walk of one mile, being accompanied as pace makers j by Messrs Cprlett, McPherson, Hodgson and Clark, ! The exhibition -by Mr Bnrton was greatly enjoyed, and at the conclusion he was loudly cheered. M. H. Quick, ot Hamilton (trained by Mr W. Hammond), was'successful in winning the double—the 150 yards arid 300, i yards Ladies Bracelet, in both cases the finishes being very close. R. Hall of Te Rore, was also successful in two. races, winning the 440 .yards and half-mile, the finishes in these races also being C.
