Accidents -Last Tuesday while Mrs P. Gane'MJd; another young lady were driving .over tbe railway 1 crossing (near Oharipo) on each side of which is a big swamp drain, covered on the: top with pluks, th 3 horaeshied, jumping into the drain, 1 but fortunately his weight broke some of the- harness and lethimfree from the buggy, which was left just on the edge of tbe culvert. The-two ladies jumped out at the' back, and Mrs Gane ran to the assistance of the horse, holding his head above water, while hor companion went for assistance. Two Raglan gentlemen who were close at hand and some others, 1 soon had the'horse out, the only damage, ( .being.a:, broken strap and all hands ipattered with swamp mud. 1 The horse' would Certainly have been drowned if Mrs Gaheh'aji not acted in suoh a plucky manner! This 1 is not ! the 'first time an acoideut has happened, ,at this crossing, and two rails on each side of both culverts would make'it'quite safe.' Indeed, had the buggy turned' over into the'drain a serious accident might bavb happened, and perhaps loss of life. J Itia to be hoped theauthoritieswill do'something at once, as it would hot costmuch to> make it safe. -T regret to hear that Mr P. G. Germann sustained' a serious accident last week. His son was with him at the time. Dr. Pairman was sent for and bethinks there is no serious' damage done. Mr Germann is now about again but feels the shake considerably. 'It 1 is to be hoped he will soon be restoredto perfect health, Sheep FAiRi-1-Thero wasa fair muster of sheep at Mr Hunter's fair, and they were an imprpyementoii his last sale.
