Every care had been taken by the Hamilton members to get their court into match condition, and the result was acknowledged by all to have been a complete success, The Kihikihi i players i \ were; somewhat ] handicapped;' through having 'to play ; on a sand court instead of a grass one, and all the double sets were won by the Hamilton players. The feature of the day's play was the single between Mr Hill, of Hamilton, and Mr Baddily, of Kihikihi. Mr Baddily won the first set, of which 1 the last game was a very tough one, deuce being called 19 times. After this Mr Hill forged ahead in the secondhand third sets. This match brought out the best exposition of tennis that has been seen in, Hamilton, and was a treat to watch. The large number of spectators applauded most, impartially. At the.start it was, considered a safe win for Mr Baddily, but Mr Hill's training and activity were too much for his opponent. Tha latter's screw cuts were very much admired—The following are the scores: Misses A. Jolly and A. Sandes beat Mrs Ogle and Miss Farrell, 6-2 s 6-1; Messrs Edgecumbeand Stevens beat Messrs Singleton and Ogle, 6-2:0-2; Messrs Hill and Hume beat Messrs Baddily and Corboy, 6-1:6-3; ,Mr' Hill beat Mr Baddily,3-6:6-3:6-2. The Hamilton ladies provided refreshments, and were busily emplayerl all the afternoon attending on the visitors,
