HAMILTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The, monthly..meetinxjif the Hamilton Boi'imain Council was held at the Council Chambers at 7.30 p.m. on Tuesday. There Werß'present: His Worship the Mayor (Mr W. Day) in the chair, and Cre. C. Tippin, 8. Davis, R. J, Gwynne,~T,. Slade, W. Jones, D. Sulmon, and R. F. Sandes. Licensing.—The Minister for Justice wrote, stating that the Waipa County Council had been appointed to conduct the licensing matters throughout the electoral district of Waipa.—Received. Mr Sandes' AccouNT.-MrT, G. Sandes wrote, &i y i n ß explanations as to the charges in his'account of £3 4s'()d [referred back to him at last meeting.-Cr. Tippin moved that the letter be received.—Seconded by Cr. Jones.—Mr Sandes at this time catne into the chambers and made a full explana-tion.-The motion was then put and carried unanimously. Pipes.-Mr P. LeQuesne applied for permission to; lay a water-pipe under the road from his hotel to his store—Granted, ; • ; School Bridge.-The _ following letter was read from the Kirikiriroa Road Board with reference to the school hridge'i-At the last meeting of the Kirikiriroa Road Board reference was made to an inconvenience to the public, caused by. the Borough Council havinjar' erected a barricade on Heaphy Terrace; 1, AVthe bridge is not being repaired,' nor the-usual- steps taken for that purpose, and as the bridge is perfectly safe for light traffic, I am directed to respectfully request,that you will kindly n;ove that the obstruction be removed.— Cr. Sandes said that the Council could not consent to fake defence down unless the Kirikiriroa Road Board would undertake to be: responsible'-for; any accidents; 'He moved that the letter be received and the clerk be instructed to, write, asking the Board if they will join with the in the expense of repairing arid 'maintaining' the bridge, 1 and' requesting them to fence across the cutting on their side in the mean-time-Seconded bv Cr. Jones andi carried. A Disputed Claim.-Mr E. Wilson, the contractor for the saleyards di ain, .wrote forwarding a statement from: Mr.Gwynneth, C,E.,showingthat he was entitled to 85cubic yards extra>in connection"with the above work, for which, with the other items of extras he claimed, and aslc/l that a committee he appointed to.deal.with tl|e,malter or that it be referred to arbitration.—Cr.
