REVIVAL OF THE MINUET.
An' innovation proposed recently by Iforr Joliimn Strauss was made in Vienna on Tuesday night at (he charity bull of tho Wliito Cross Society, in annual toll Hint is always largely attended by young girls of tho upper middle classes, jlorr Striniss'a suggestion was Hint tlio minuet should bo danced in old Vienneso costumes, ns a protest against modern extravagance in dress, and at tlio same time ns an inducement to gentlemen to take part in tho donees,- Tuesday night's bnll was accordingly opened with the graceful old measure, performed _by twenty-eight chosen couples, The girls, who Wo all handsome, wore simple white Empiro drosses with sandals, and carried white fans, while Hie men wore evening eoats and black knee breeches. The dance was gore through without a hitch, and proved a groat success. It will bo an established feature at balls in Vienna during the remainder of tlio Carnival.
