COLONIAL MEDALS.
(BY ELECTRIC TKLEGIUPH.—COPYRIGHT.) London*, October 4. Silt C. Tcppeii and the AgentsGeneral met Sir S. Samuel to discuss a letter from the "War Office agreeing to a proposal by New South Wales that the Governors of colonies should bo empowered to confer medals for meritorious and long service and good conduct upon members of the local permanent forces. The Alarquis of Ripon approves of the suggestion. The meeting was adjourned for the purpose of obtaining fuller information. The propriety of including the volunteers in the scheme was alse discussed.
