When on the turf Riglan proved himself a thorough honest horse and first-class stayer, able to last to the end of a Cup race, currying weight and defeating the best horses in Auckland. In sprint races he showed his pace by beating performers like Teksum (who won races against the best horses in Australia], Cissy, and others.
