WAIKATO HUNT CLUB.

ThbßK was a very good muster of hnrsplnen at the usual weekly meet of Mr H. Bullock-Webster's hounds at Tamahere on Thursday last, the locale being the corner near the Fencoart railway station. The ladies were, however, again conspicioiis by their absence. Althoa K h heavy rain fell during the morning, the weather, which was very threatening, cleared up considerably towards midday and Old Sol beamed forth brightly, and, with the exception of a rather heavy shower during the afternoon, left nothing to complain of. MrE. Hewitt, of the Criterion Hotel, Cambridge, generously provided the party with refreshments during the afternoon, which were very acceptable. Among those Present we noticed the Master (Mr H. BollockWebster) on Blue Peter, Messrs W. M. Douglas on Pawa, Mr H. Pickering on a Ingomar, W. Thornton, on Jangler, A. Bach on an Ariel, C. Lake on Pirate, R. Crowe on Crazy Kate, A. J. Storey on Alburv J. Tnrnbull on Justice, W. Windsor, on Yum Yum, H. Wyatt on a bav C Weal on a Cap-a pie, P. Emerson on Jumbo, W. Cowley on a bay, P. Armer on Nancy, J. Macfarlano on a bay, 0. Craig on Othello, and others. A paddock belonging to Mr Frodsham was first tried, but drew a blank. In the next paddock, belonging to Mr Hughes, a hare was found in the gully at the back of that gentleman s house, which headed for the railway station, and circling round returned to her old quarters, where she was again uneaithed, and going in the same direction as previously was ultimately lost amnng a flock of sheep on the ITencourt Lstate. Ihe next paddock was chen tried, and another hare was soon on foot, which healed for the main road, which it crossed, and, running over some grand hunting country on Mr Douglas' propertv, made off in the direction of Fencourt, when she succeeded in escaping from her pursuers in the same manner as the former one. This was a very fast run, and provided a large amount of jumping. Several paddocks belonging to Mr Douglas were then tried, and a number of haves foun'd, which, however, managed to escape in the bush. At last one was found, which was persuaded to run in the opposite direction, and headed for Mr Seymour's farm, but turned off toward Mr Rhodes' house, and was eventually run into by the houndu in some titree on the latter gentleman's property, This was the best run of the day and the only kill which the dogs succeeded in making, and this wound up a very successful day's sport. Several spilU occurred during ilia afternoon, but none of a serious nature- The ground was in a very heavy etate for jumping after tho recent rains.
