FISH BREDCING A T OXFORD.
At a recent meeting of the Acclimatisetiou Society, it was finally resolved to remove fchf! breeding fish ponds to .a site near Okoroire, Upper Waikutn. This course was adopted on the recommendation of the Fish Committee, supported by tint of Mr James Stewart, V.E., who made plans of the site aud the necessary dams, ponds, races, etc. The necessity for the re'noviil of the hatching ponds arose because there was not sufficient water at the present ponds, but at Okoroire thpre is not only ample water of a suitable temperature and clearness, buts the site is near the streams in which it is most desirable to distribute the fish. The Society's agent is now in WaiUato making arrangements for starting operations. It is not expected that anything can be done in the way of hatching ova in the now ponds this season, -hue Sir Cheeseman hopes that some of the ponds will be ready for the broods of fish next season.— Herald.
