THE WHATAWHATA BUTTER FACTORY.
On Thursday last a meeting of the trustees of the above factory was held on the premises, Mr A. Bawson in the chair. The secretary laid a statement before his col- ' leagues, which showed that all sub?criptions due to the factory fund had been paid ; a cheque was drawn fur tho final payment, of £100, in refund of loan, which nrav leaves the factory free from debt. Thus k the settlers hnve —by combining among themselves —succeeded iu establishing a profitable industry in their midst, in addition to receiving a rentil equivalent to. 8 per cent, for their money, tho factory now being leased for three years at £2. r > a. VPiir. This resu't is actrib lted generally tothe able and energetic action ot the secretary Mr K. C. Shepherd, who—consistently .supported by his fellow trustees, Gilder, Dawson, Limmer, Rothwell. son and Ferguson-has spaied neither Uuie nor troulls to keep the setllers tope'her, and briug the matter to a Miccessful 'issue. The Whatiiwhatasettlers have every reesoti to be prouii of their rmtter. factory, and it is, wo believe, the first tima that >■ cooperative attempt: of this, nature has, in WiiiUato, or even in AuckUn-.l—been brought to a successful termination in thu fir.-t \vmvU.
