FOOTBALL.
lIUNTr.Y V. PATKIIANGr. These teams met.at Hamilton on Saturday last for the second time _ this season, and the game resulted in a win for Huntly by 30 points to 2. Tile came was the most uninteresting that has been played in the Waikato this eaaaoii. Cansidering that whan these clubs met lust, Hmitly only won by the narrow mnrgin of one point, it is very evident that some of tho vanquisher] toam were nlf colour. During the first five minutes of the eame J. Ryhurn scored the only try for Pateranei, which Aubin failed to convert. J. Hinis (2), Connolly and J. Sampson secured tries for Huntly during the first spell, and Dansey converted two into the major scorn. In tho second spall tries were obtained by J. Harris (2) and C. Attrell, two of which were converted into goals, and Dansey potted a goal from the field. For H'intly, amongst the forwards it would be hard to say who played the best, but Sampson, Harris, Attroll, " Libeller " and Welsh were the stars, and in the backs, Dansey and Lovell were always there. For Paterangi, Walker, Aubin, Berry and Kusabs were the best forwards, and F. Bowden was undoubtedly tho best back, whilst S. Reid and A. Scott wero very good. Paterangi played with only thirteen men, while Huntly put a full team in the field. Messrs Carl yon and Odium acted as line umpires for Huntly and Paterangi, respectively, and Mr K. Crowe made an efficient referee, and his decisions gave every satisfaction.
The following table shows the positions of the clubs competing for the Wsikato Ruerby Union caps : — Club. Matches. Won. Drawn. Lost. Hamilton ... 8 6 1 1 Huntly ... 8 C 1 1 Paterangi ... 8 4 0 4 Whatawhata 8 3 0 5 Whawhakia... 8 0 OS By the above it will be seen that Hamilton and Huntly are level, and tho match to decide the premiership of the season will be played at Ngaruawahia on Saturday. Mr R, Crowe wdl act as referee.
