OHINEHURI.
County Council.—The Ohinemuri County Council hold its ordinary general meeting on Saturday laßt, all the membors being present. Mr G. N. MoOurer, recently elected for Karangahake, took his seat, and was welcomed by the chairman. Dearn a tender for metalling the cutting between the two townships was accepted at ±72, and Messrs Coates and Matcalfe's tender for the county flax at a lump sum of £30 was accepted. The financial position of the council was shown to be very pood, there being a credit balance of £204. The revenue accruing during last month was £528 12s (id. Accounts to the amount of £151 were passed for payment, and works to the value of over £1400 authorised. Crs. Phillips, Cassrells, Kobson and Edwards were appointed a Finance Committee to arrange lor these latter works. Fiiik.—A auspicious «re occurred on Thursday last at the Junction Mill, Mr Petur Foster's stable and barn being destroyed. The place was uninsured, and the loss is estimated at about £70. Mr luster suspects foul play, and consequently an inquest is to be held by Mr Coroner Kenny. Mining.— In mining everything "?.""(? on swimmingly. The manager of the Wailn Company sent bullion to the value of £2,7'>0 to Auckland by the last " Ruby, and the output is increasing every month. The new find up the Komata creek is showing up well, and will undoubtedly prove valuable The new Cassell plant is to bo commenced immediately at Karangahake, and generally throughout the field prospeots for the summer are bright. Fancy Dbbss Bali,.—The fancy drew ball is the topic of the day among the ladies. There will be a great crowd present if all come who are talking of it. Mr Bradley, of Te Aroha, is arranging for a special trip to Paeroa on the due date.
