LATEST AUCKLAND NEWS.
[BTTEIiEGRAI'II. — OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Auckland, Last Night. A nine-koomki) house, in Dedwood Terrace, Ponsonby. owned by Councillor Hmailes, and occupied by Mr W. Vaile, was destroyed by fire, shortly after two o'clock, this morning. The house was insured in the South British office, for £150. The Board of Education Scholarship entries are as follows: —For the senior scholarships 11 boys and (i girls in the Auckland division, and 4 boyß in tLe Thames division. For the junior Scholarships the entries are : —44 boys and 34 girls for Auckland, 11 boys and 4 girls for Thames, and 2 boys and 4 girls for Hamilton. The Baptist Union has accepted an invitation from Wellington to hold the next Conference there. A motion was also passed by 19 to 5 affirming the desirability ot bible reading in schools.
