(BY TELEGRAPH. —I'RESS ASSOCIATION). CHBISTCHUKCH, Last Night. Maddissox's flour-mill at Rangiora was burnt to the ground yesterday. The mill was ti well-appointed threestorey building. The property destroyed is worth £1000, on which the insurance is £(300 on the mill and machinery and £200 on the stock, in tho Liverpool, London and Globe. A young man named W. P. Vernon committed suicide at noon to-day by shooting himself under the right car. Death was instantaneous. Vernon, who was well connected, came here from Dunedin, and was in the employ of Wigrain Bros., malsters. He had been suffering from insomnia, and was taking laudanum, and probably was under the influence of the drug when he committed the deed. DUNEDIN, Last Night, W. Stronaeh, aged 2G, died from injuries received through his skull being fractured. It is supposed his horse rolled on him.
