The Waikato Times AND THAMES VALLEY GAZETTE. Equal and exact justice to all men, Of whatsoever state or persuasion, religious or political. THURSDAY, SEPT. 11, 1890.

An item of news which we publish

this morning is in refreshing contrast to the struggles which are now lining carried on in this colony and Australia between labour and capital. We refer to the intelligence of the formation of an association of employers and employed in the British Channel and Docks, the objects of which are for the purpose of promoting harmony between masters and men and general co-operation for the mutual interests ot employers and employees. If this wise course were followed by the recently - formed employers' associations and the trades unions of these colonies, instead of each party being antagonistic and endeavouring, as at present, to coerce and crush the other —fostering class hatred and all uncharitableness— a state of things might be inaugurated, which, compared with the present unhappy state of affairs, would be quite millennial. Strikes, threatenings, and boycotts would then be heard of no more.
