THE AUSTRALIAN CRICKETERS.
(BY KLKCTKIO ThXEGRArJI.—UOI'VBMHT.) London, August 15. In the University match the Australians made 131 in the first innings, Charlton being not out fur 2-1. Having to follow on, they made a splendid stand, and with one wicket down the score stood at 118 at the end of the day's play. Barrett and Murdoch were both not out with 01 and 50 respectively. The weather wax showery, and, although the weather was bad at tho start, it improved during the day. I u the match against Oxford and Cambridge Universities, Murdoch declared the second innings of the Australians closed when the score stood at 300, for the loss of only five wickets. The Universities' eleven requiring l!l!) runs to win, commenced their second innings liy stunewalling, and after two hours' play had lost two wickets lor 1.12, Llewellyn and llawke beinc not out with •IK and 'jl. I n the second innings of the Australians, the principal scorers were : Barrett. {Mi ; Mnrdock, 01); Charlton, not out, 34 ; Trott. i-2.
