Sai.k of I<'kuit Tunics.—On Saturday afternoon, August Dth., a sale of fruit trees from the nursery of that well-known grower, Mr ilulin Sharp, of Cambridge, took place. Mr iMeOullaugh acted as auctioneer, on behalf of Messrs .Inhn McXicol and Co. The sale commenced at 1.1(0 p.id., and a large number of persons being present fmm all parts ot the district, viz., Aotea, lluapukc, To Mata, Waitetuna, Tu Akau, Raglan, and Wainui, etc. One thousand apple trees, of various kinds were first put up, and were eagerly competed for, having amongst them many choice kinds, and all being healthy and vigorous young trees. Cherries, plums, peaches, and apricots then followed, comprising 000 ditfeicnt sorts of well-selec-ted kinds, amongst them the new varieties of Japanese plums, which were held in much favour by the buyers. (!|ioice sorts of gooseberries, camellias, and other choice shrubs were sold. One thousand enpressus maurocarpa having been disposed of, finished up the sale. Ml Sharp was in attendance during the sale. This being the first sale of fruit trees held here, considerable interest was shown, and very satisfactory prices were obtained throughout the sale, the principal buyers beiiiK, Messrs Sutton, Ijangley, T. IS. Mill, Bishop, Monn, La Trobe, Mc.lannett, Somerset, Mrs Phillips, and many others. May the fruits of the day's sale be seen in the fruitful yield of the orchards of those purchasing at this time.
