London, May 26. Delegates from Newfoundland have had an interview with Lord Knutaford, who stated that he was extremely anxious to satisfy the demands of the colonies to the utmost of his power. The Premier is parloying with the French Government over the fisheries dispute. The French press is moderate in tone. St. John's, May 27. Excited meetings have been held throughout Newfoundland at which resolutions were carried denouncing the British neglect with regard to the fisheries. Large numbers of the residents are leaving for the mainland.
