TAUWHARE.

Impbovemexts.—The houses and out-build-ings on the Waikato Land Association's property, Tauwhare, liave just been painted, and the township is decidedly improved in appearance. While the painters were in the district the school committee arranged to have the school painted, and informed the Board of Education to that effect. A reply was received from the Board informing the committee that the sohool would not be painted till spring, and that tenders would then be called for the work. In the meantime the work has been done, and the money paid by the committee. Finn.—A whare occupied by one of Mr Clements' mill hands was burned on Sunday evening. There was no serious loss; n carpet bag containing £3 in notes being the most valuable. Besides this there was a quantity of potatoes and tools destroyed. Flax-hill.—The flax-mill, which was stopped during the threshing season, is once more at work.—(Own Correspondent).
