RACES AND SPORTS AT TAUW HARE.
The annual sports were held at Tauwharo on Friday last, and were a great success. For most of the events there were large entries, and the contests were good. The following are the results of the various items on their programme :— Foot Sports. Maiden Flat Race.—Cowling, 1; Bailey. 2. Tauwhare Cup.—A. McKinnon, 1; Bailey, 2. Mile.—Bailey, 1; Waring, 2. House Races. Gup.—Little Mary, 1; Clipperina, 2. Nine started. Pony Raok.— Little Mary, 1; Ned, 2. Fourteen started. Jumping Competition.—Orange Lightning. Hurdles.—Bret Harte, 1; Spilapeen. 2; Private, 3. Twelve started. Brut j Harte was disquaHiied for running inside a post, and the first prize was awarded to Spilapeen.
