Company's Britannia on February ;20th, at. a;."banquet..at the Garrick Club, .in the absence of Lord Roseberry and Sir J. Clark, Solicitor-General, Mr Toole pro--posed . "The Colonial Empire," to which there was no response. Lord Randolph Churchill and Sir H. A. Isaacs (Lord Maybr of London), were present.
The Duke of Argyle, speaking at the Federation League, Edinburgh, said that. in his opinion the Australian colonies were quite justified in imposing import duties on the importation oi' British goods.
