Sydney, February 3. Mil Paii\ell's action against the Times lias been settled. The latter pays £5000 damages. •
Mr Panic]l has requested the American League to send over funds to help the Ir.sh party to contest the general elections.
February 4. The Times in referring to the action for libel brought against it by Mr Parne'l admits that they had no legal defence, hut claims that the result in no way effects the larger question at issue.
The Daily Telegraph condemns what it terms the grave o\ersight of she Times.
The Morning Post considers the result of the trial will give a shock to public confidence. 'I he Daily News states that Mr Parnell receives untaxed costs.
