(BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Auckland, Friday. Argument was continued in the Supreme Court to-day, ro the refusal of licenses by tlw Auckland North Committee. Judge Gillies overruled various points raised by the Council on behalf of the closed houses, and offered to give judgment immediately when the argument has finished, but preferred to give a written judgment on Wednesday next. The Counsel decided to accept judgment on Wednesday. The decision was, therefore, reserved.
In the suit Loan and Mercantile Agency v. J. C. Firth, His Honour overruled certain points raised by the defcuce, and affirmed that the mortgagee could pursue all his remedies at mice. The hoaring of the case comes off on Monday next.
Professor Thomas has given six prizes to encourage the study of agriculture in the public schools.
S. Stephen's Church, Ponsonby, has called the Rev. R. T. Robertson, vice the Rev. Mr Runciman, resigned.
