The English football team defeated the combined South Island player? by 2 goals to nil. The latter'a play was loose, and showed want of practice. The qaarterly meeting of the parishioners of S. Peter's, Hamilton, will be held to morrow evening in the Public Hall. A good attendance is requested. It is rumoured that the Premier is about to sell his property in Tarunaki and take up his residence in Wellington, in which case he would offer himself for one of the Wellington constituencies. Mr Stoupe is making capital progress with the now hospital building at Hamilton. The foundations are all in, and a portion of the framework is in position. The work is carried out in a very efficient manner. The Hamilton Light Infantry parade this evening at the Volunteer Hall, at 8 o'clock. Brill will, until further notice, be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Preliminary steps for the selection of a shooting team to represent the Company will be taken this evening after drill. Mr Isaac Coates met \rith what might have been a very serious accident, yesterday afternoon. He was getting some clover seed in Mr Parr's loft, when a number of sacks of oats fell over him and buried him. The bags were at once removed, and Mr Coates was found to have escaped injury.
