The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company reports, under date Ghristchurch, Se]itcniber 21st Wheat: A considerable business was passing early in the week on the basis of our last quotations, and several thousand sacks changed hands. Kecout cable, advices from London, however, reporting an easier market at Mark Lane, have, produced a temporary check upon operations, and buyers are less eager to purchase than for some weeks past, llic market is decidedly easier, but without any quotable alteration in prices, which stand at 3s ."id to 3s ,'.'.d for Hunter's, 3s Gd Pearl, and 3s li.ld Tuscan, all f.o.b. Second quality milling is in good demand at 3s to 3s 3d f.0.b., and fair quality at 2s lOd. Cattle : There was a considerable number yarded of all descriptions. J?at cattle met an improved demand with rather enhanced values. I'rime heavy hullocks brought to £10 ; ditto cows and heifers, £7 to £!); ordinary sorts, £o to £G 10s, being 17s to 21s per 100ib. We. sold for Mr Edgar Jones light heifers at £1 15s, and steers to £5 15s. In tho store pens though there were several lots of well-grown cattle, trade was quiet, and some withdrawals were uiadu._ \\ e sold for clients steers at £4 15s and £5 7s(id. Bran, SOs; sharps, 755; pollard, 72s lid. Oatmeal, in 251b5., £10 10s; in 71bs., £12. Ryecorn, 3s (id ; linseed, £1 ;) . Ryegrass : Machine dressed, 3s to 3s 3d ; farmers' lots, 2s Gd, Cocksfoot: Heavy dressed, 3rd ; medium, 3Ad. Oatsheaf chaff, £3 ;>s. Hay (baled), £3 15s. Hops, lid to Is, f.o.b. Nelson; honey, -Id.
