Thk Boo.NDAicY Question",— The matter referred to in the local of your Tuesday's issue in reference to the claim for refund of gold revenue from the Piako County Council which is being made by the Tauranga Council is causing a considerable amount of discussion, and the further ilevelopeiiient of the affair will be looked for with great interest here. One impor-. taut question which is being raised is as to the legality of the lease of the tramway given by the Piako Council for a period of ten years, that is supposing the gazetted boundaries are in accordance with plans in the land office and the Taurangas claim sustained. Concert. —Aβ predicted, the concert which came off in the hall on Thursday in aid of the funds of St. Joseph's Church, was an unqualified success, tho omlit of which is duo to the untiring efforts of Mr S. Faes who had tho entire management in I.U own hands. The hall was never dcc;rated with better taste, ferns, uikau, blossoms, flowers and festoons were tastefully .arranged, with Chinese lanterns to complete the effect. Long before the band struck up the hall was filled beyond sitting accommodation. The following programme was successfully gone through. Father Kehoe presiding as chairman. The band, selection ; "Tally Ho" Master H. Touge; song, "Quite Au Fait" Miss Berger; sonsf, "Dreaming of Home," Miss Warnwright; song, "Tit for Tat," Mr C. MoLiver; song, "N.I Desperandum," Miss V. Pavitt; duet, "Love is Waking," Mr and Miss Cocks ; song, " Money Matters," Mr H. Gordon ; song, " Happy Moments," Master H. Tonge; song, ".Rather" Miss Berger; song, "Mother Kissed me in my Dreams," Mr Newcoinbe ; reading-, Misses M. Clark and A. Faes, duet; pianoforte, Mr C. MoLinar, song, " silver Cup ;" Miss A. Faes, song, ".Cherry Ripe ;" Miss M. Cocks, song, "Only a Violet," Masters F. and 11. Tongo, Sailor's Hornpipe. Father Kehoe returned thanks to all who had assisted to render the concert a success, and to Mr Faes, for the immense amount of energy lie had displayed throughout. The floor was cleared and dancing commenced to the enlivening music of Messrs Greenwood (violin) and C. KnieriU (piano), and continued with unabated enjoyment until nearly daylight. Tins Tte Aroha Batteky.—lt is reported that Mr Kersey Cooper is negotiating for the purchase of the Te Aroha BaUcry, which has been idlo for over five years. We are informed it is his intention to remove it to Waihi. New Town Board.—A special meeting will bo held this evening at 8 o'clock for tho purpose of electing a chairman, and considering the most convenient night for meeting. Waitoa Yacancv, Piako.. Coukty, Council. —Mr H. D. Johnson lias consented to allow himself to bo marinated for this vacancy. His thorou|jPtknowledge of the wants of the district, combined witli his long colonial experience iu the service of the Government, and his ' having occupied previously very high positions iu local politics elsewhere, render him particularly suitable for the position, and doubtless the people of tho Waitoa district will see it to their interests to secure his return.
