FIRE AT CAMBRIDGE.
A KIKK broke out at Mr W. K. Carter's residence ab'mt noon yesterday. It was (liftuovei'i-d by Mr W. T. Can*, when going to luncheon. Tlio lire broke out m a coinor i if the building ni»ar the roof. Mr Carr tried t<> put it out by throwing water up, but finding ho could not reach it in that in inner, drovo up tv the stable for suitable appliances. Meantime the hearty and enertretic efforts of a numbar of people who rushed to the scene, wore sufficient to extinguish the fire. Two of the rooms aie considerably d.iuugeri, and a few thousand shingles destroyed. The furnituie is also somewhat knocked about in connoquence of its hasty removal. The origin of tho fire is quite unaccountable.
