THE" FIGHTING FORTUNE" COMPANY.
The above coinnany, which includes in its ranks scrernl artistes of undoubted merit, is advertised to give three performances in Hamilton, commencing in the Public Hall this evening. The company was organised by Mr Oscar B<*lfe, a gentleman who has played leading parts in most of the dramatic combinations in New Zealand for the past two years, and he has been fortunate in securing the support of such sterling actors as Mr Reg. Rpde, Mr G. Marten and others. The ladies of the company are Miss Lizzie Lawrence, Miss Gertrude Duke, and Miss F. Maher, all favourably known on the colonial stage, "fighting Fortune" is a drama in four acts, founded on the Glasgow Bank failure, and is said to be full of interesting and exciting situations. The Press of the Thames, where the company have just been doing a big business speak in term? of unreserved praise of the company, and theic is no doubt it will be well patronised in Waikato. It is not often, indeed too seldom, that a dramatic company of undoubced merit visits the district, and when such a it ought to be well supported. 'The hall has been fitted up with special scenery and effects, and will for this occ.ition present some of the features of a re il theatre. On Wednesday night the company will play "The Southern Cross,*' a most successful drama written by Mr Balfe, and on Thursday that oil favourite "East Lynne," will be put on the boards.
