TAWHIAO AND THE PROSPECTORS. [BY TELEGRAPH. — OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Times Monday.
News has been received from one of the members of the Tuhiia prospecting pirty to the effect that on arrival at Waimata last week, theic appeared to be a misunderstindmg amongst the natives as to whether the prospectors should be allowed to explore the neighbourhood. The natives hold a korero, ami it was resolved to offer no obstruction to the miners' advance. Tawhiao has notified the local chief that he is now at Whakatiwai, near Miranda, and expects to reach the Thames shoitly. The object of his visit is to endeavour to obtain the cession of lands and an acknowledgement of sovereignty, but he will receive little support from the Ngatimaru hnpus.
