THE CHURCHILL MYSTERY.

The police authorities are evidently determined to leave no stone unturned to unravel the mystery, which at present surrounds the discovery of the unknown body at Churchill. Detective Benjamin, of Wanganui, arrived at Ngaruawahia yesterday and will make the strictest enquiry into the case. The latest theory is that the deceased is identical with a man named James Elliott, who worked in various parts of the Waikato. last- year. Some time in September last Elliott was employed by Mr Clements, contractor (who was in jdred by a horse on Sunday), at Kihilcihi. He left that place, and since then nothing has been heaid of him. We understand that the detailed description of tho deceased published in this journal agrees generally with that of Elliott.
