THE HAMILTON EAST POST OFFICE.
Rfsidents of Hamilton East and settlers of Kirikitiroa will be glad to learn tliat the older abolishing the Post Office at the foimer place has been cancelled. As soon as the mattar was tepresented to him, the member for the district, Mi J. 13. Whyte, wrote to the PostmasterGeneral, and at the same time forwarded the petition. The result was that before the lesolutions passed at Monday night's meeting reached Wellington, the Minister had arrived at a decision. The following is a copy of the telegiam received by his Woiship the Mavoi from the PostmasterGenet al on Tuesday :—: — 'Wellington, July 29. 1 am glad to inform you that befoie your telegiam amved I had leceived a letter from Mi J. B. Whyte, M.H.R., on the subject of the closing of the Post Office at Hamilton East, and had cancelled the notice for closing it. R, Oliver.
