THE LUNG WORM IN SHEEP.

The following; letter appeared in 'the Town and Countiy Journal, Sydney :— Siv, — In a late issue of your journal, Fianlc Millei gives the following as. a cine foi the lungwoim m sheep :— Castor oil, loz ; powdeied opinii), 3gr ; starch, loz ; boiling water to make a di aught, aad also thin staicli night and morning. After administering the same four or fivo days, a stimulant must be administered to destroy the parasite. Linseed oil 2oz, oil of turpentine 4 di.ich ma, to bo given in doses, a tablespoonful to each sheep, eveiy tluec or four liouis. He says that some sheep lcqiuie two or tin ee doses. Allowing that two 01 three doses had to be given to each sheep, 2,000 sheep is a good day's woik for live men to dose, and there are instances wlieie there are from 1.1,000 to 30,000 sheep on plenty of the New Zealand stations which are oftened troubled with these worms, saying nothing of stations in Queensland which cairy fiom 1.10,000 to 200,000. Now I should like to know how JYlr Fiank Miller thinks one of these station manageis would get tlnough those sheep with this style of dienclung. It may do \eiy well with a few stud shoep, but in my opinion theie is no easier or simplei cure than the following : !sgr. of arsi me for each sheep from m\ months o'cl, that is ooz. to e\ery 800 sheep. Boil the ai sonic in watei, allowing aim go wineglassfnl to each sheep, add lib of washing soda to every four gallons of water while boiling, the water to be cold w hen used. Lambs under six months about 2^i to bo allowed. The sheep must bo set, up and a tunnel placed in their mouth, and the watei pouted into the funnel by catching hold of ihe sheep u inlet the throat with the hand, and giving it a gentle jeik, they will swallow the dose instantly. The sheep about this part have to be drenched e\ety year this last three years with this diench, and I can honestly say it never fails.— John G-. Little.— Rosebank, Tingha.
