THE COLONIAL BANK. [BY TELEGRAPH. — PRESS ASSOCIATION.]
Dunkdin, Wednesday. At the half-yeaily meeting of the Colonial Bank to-day, Mr E. B. Caigill, the chairman, moved the adoption of the report and balance-sheet. Ho said that those present would see from the liguies submitted that the position of the bank affairs compared very favourably with that on pievious occasions. The amount of secuuties in London had laigely increased, and the deposits had increased £100,000, and altogether any change that had taken place Mas in the right diiection. Theie had been great dullness everywhere of late, and he felt that if their bank only held the same position as heretofore, shareholders migh j be congratulated ; and they had, ds a matter of fact, held on the even tenor of their way, and faiily held their own. The directors weie happy to be able to recommend a dividend at the usual rate, and at the same time to cai ry £1000 to the leierve fund. The lion. 11. Campbell seconded the motion, and remaiked that seeing the Union Bank had, tlnough the dullness of time:;., been compelled to ieduce then dividend by 3 per cent, he thought the Colonial Bank was to be congratulated on keeping up their 7 per cent dividend. The motion was earned. Messi-, J. T. Wiight and J. W. Ritchie weie elected dneetois in the place of the hon. M. Holmes and Mr Iv. Wilson.
