The half-yearly report and balance-sheet of the Pank of New Zealand, presented at the meeting of shareholders to-day, records the results of another prosperous t>ix months business. The profits available fo.t division amounted to £88,405, from which the usual dividend and bonus at the rate of 15 per cent, per annum was declared, leaving £13,405 to be cairied to the new account. The deposits and other liabilities amounted to £9,853,709, showing an increase of £233,1)21 ; the advances amounted to £9,557,542, being an increase of £1,093,600. Coin and cash balances, money at short call and (ioveinment securities aggregated £2,412,394, an increase of nearly £100,000 o>rer toe same items last half year. On moving the adoption of the leport the chairman gave the customary rview of the industrial and commercial experience of the colony. He attributed the recent depression in the South to previous over-importa-tion and the low price of staple exports, wheat and wool. The report was adopted.
