The returns of the attendance at the Exhibitiou show that to elite half a million persons paid admission. As the interest in the display shows no diminution the closing will probably be postponed a fortnight beyond the date originally fixed. The awards which have been declared by the vaiious juries have given general satisfaction. An exhibitors' farewell luncheon vas given to-day to Mr Hosisto, tlifi Victorian Commissioner, and in a speech on the occasion he expressed complete satisfaction with the proposed scheme for a line of direct steamers between India, Australia, and the States. There is a belief that such service would be likely to succeed.
