The Puet was a warm favourite, 3 to 2 being laid on him ; 2 to 1 against Salvage, 3 to 1 against Leonata and Normanby, 4 to 1 against Refrigerator. The Poet got away with the lead, but nearing the river Refrigerator held first position, with The Poet on his quarter, and Salvage a length behind. Coming past the stand the2e was, but little alteration, except that Normanby went up to Salvage, Leonata still bringing uy the rear, At the back of the couiso Salvage was creeping on the leaders, and on crossing the road was on level terms with The Poet. Totalisatov dividend : Inside, £3 9s ; outside, £3 4s. Notice of Motion won the Hack Race. Consolation, of 40sovs\, 1 mile distance, was won by Loch Lomand (7at 71bs), ti^ others being : Administrator (7st), WitirJ^ (ust lOlbs), and Refrigerator (7st 41bs). The amount put through the totalisator both days was £8600, the largest amount ever placed here.
