KIHIKIHI. Town Board Election.
The polling for five councillors for the new town board took place .it the Public Hall on Saturday. The result was a boil^er for a good many, as a considerable amount of canvassing went on dining the week. To the sm prise, of everyone, a recent arrival, Mr Wilkinson, landloid of om ciack hotel, headed the poll. The following is a liht of the candidates, and the votes polled by them :— Wilkinson 70 Ellis . . 47 Farrell . <><> Anderson 46 Veiner 30 Maunders 41 Beiry •">."> Blencowe 3(i Tiistiam . . r >4 Klmsley !) (4r,ice ->2 The first five are therefore elected. There weie fifteen infoimal votes. The fii.st meeting of the new boaid v%ill be held ou Saturday next, when the chaii man will be elected. Survey of the King Country. The surveyoi-, are sfcill in here, no doubt waiting the ai rival of Mr Percy Smith. Mr Cussen left on Sunday morning for Otorohanga. Mi Rochfort anived heie on I'iiday, having completed the survey of the pioposed line light thiough to Te Awaniutu station. — (Own Correspondent.)
