TE AROHA MINING. (TE AROHA NEWS)

C'l-KAXING UP. The first cleaning up at the battery since the monthly retorting eventuated on Wednesday afternoon Last. All the .amalgam was hot water squeezed, and we have Seen assured by one of the mine managers that the New Find amalgam at any rate will go one-third. The returns aie :—

Wkuvhiko. — Wo .aie glad to be in a position to chronicle an improvement in the prospects of this mine, inasmuch as the quartz at present going thiough the mill is of a much bettor quality than that sent clown lnst month. Indeed, about the time of the battery b.uiquet it had been decided to btop crubhing. The quartz is now coining from stopu-5 on the main reef at intermediate level. It ib f1 om four to six feet thick and the manager estimates that the btuff now going through tho mill is worth about au ounce per load. It will be remembered that the operation 1 ' on the main reef at the surface level included two drives, each 20 feet long, north and south on the lode. In the northern drive the lode divided, and no gold was got past the junction. The block below is to the southward of the junction, and the bulk of it is expected to be payable. WAii'oKr.— AH hands have been knocked off with the exception of two men, who are pio->pecting the big reef. It is five feet thick, and m places home nice looking gold has been seen. Wah'oki E\Ti:ndiM). — The prospecting drive is in 100 feet, and it is expected that the reef will be cut in the couise of a day ov two. Ahmy. — In thUiuina, which, by-thc-wav, luh the fourth right to the battery, prospecting operations aie .still the oidor of the d.iy. The manager hopes to scud a test to the battery soon. Pnoi'.N'ix. — The managei leports cutting a new loader. It is a foot thick showing gold through the stone. This is the thiiu leader intersected in thib company's ground. Njw ]?im— There is no change of any gieat importance to notice in this mine. The leef going towaids the Canadian is looking splendid. "The metal" can be seen freely and the stuff crushes iemarkably well, The yield of three hundred and odd ounces of amalgam from four days crushing with fifteen head, alum's that fch« stuff is shaping at least for a return as good as last month's*. There seems to be au imprebbion that the Arizona will get the New Find lode. This opinion is grounded on the belief that the Is ew Find loef carries! through the bttok lode. The pi inabilities appear to Us to be quite the other way— -that the buck reef will ciriy the smaller body of quart/; away with it on ita wall. Aiu/ona. — The low level is hi 12") feet, and has inteiseeted several reefs and leaders of a gold bearing character. The best of theso i-, a leef five or six feet thiough which show.s gold when bioken. Ix\ rjKNK^.— The manager lias not inteisected the leef in fclie low level, and .a .survey made on Wednesday shows that it is still 21 feet from the face of the dm c. The channel of country thiough which the chive goes is excellent, and will be much surprised if payable gold is not obtained in this lode when cut. Wklcome.— Mr <2uinn repoit-, that there is nothing new of inteiest since our last. Tho stope continues to produce really excellent golden stone. Lucky Hit. — The trial parcel of nine tons fiom this mine will bo crushed at the Thames. It will be sent down by the steamer on Monday. Some of the stuff i-. alieady At the lauding, and a poition of it ib still at the SVaiorongomai battery. Waiokonoomai.— Preparations are being made to sink a winze. Phcknix..— The throe leaders cut in cio*.scut have joined together and some good picked stone came to hand yesterday. Mmiia".— Some nice gold was obtained in the drive yesteiday.
