DUNKDIN, Thursday. The Refrigerating Company have leceived a cabie that* the Fenstauton's meat is selling at b'^d per lb. A deputation horn the Chamber of Commeioe waited upon the Hon. Mr Mituhelson to day, but the subjects dealt with were principally local. In reference to the new Dune-lin railway station, Mr Mitchelson pointed out that thet c \us a good deal of misapprehension. Although £'2.50,000 was voted for the whole work, nothing like that amount was required for the station building. After providing for the reclamation, formation oi btr 'ets, ballasting and platelaying, goods-sheds, and bridges, only £20,000 was allowed for the station buildings, and lie did not think that was evtiavagant for n railway station for a city like Dunedin. Captain Scott, R.M., inged the necessity of tho Government making a sui vey of the coast near Waipapa Point, and Mr Mituhfalsun promised to biingthe suggestion under the notice of the Minister of Marine. A lettpr, received by the mail from England, about the frozen treat shipments per the British King and Catalonia, which an ived about the same tune, and were sold at small sales, gives the reason of the low prices as being divided agency. Each salesman was trying to get rid of liis sheep befoie his neighbour. Mr John Reid, of Eldet&lie, wiites strongly to the New Zealand Refrigerating Company on the subject, ard asscits that the want of united action in placing the mutton on the home market entails a loss of from {,d to Id per lb,, which means 3s to 6s per head.
