Colonial Secretary's Office, Wellington, sth December, 18&3. HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Forbes Gordon to be the Returning Officer to conduct the first election of five Commissioners of the Town District of Kihikihi, as constituted nnder " The Town Districts Act, 1881;" also to appoint Saturday, the sth January, ISS4, to be the time, and the Town Hall at Kihikihi to be the place, for holding such first elections ; aud also to appoint Saturday, the 12th January, 1884, at II o'clock in the morning, to be the time, and the said Town Hall to be the place, for holding the first meeting of the Commissioners. CONDITIONS.

Entrance fee foi Kurdlcs, New Y 7 ear Handicap, Trotting Handicap, and Steeplechase, to be forwarded with nomination and colours, age and pedigree of hoi se, addressed to the Secretary, Postoth'ce, Cambridge, not. later than Mouday, the 17th December, 18S3. Weignts will appear in Waikato papers on Saturday, 22ucl December, 1 8S3. Acceptance money and enhance for Publicans' Purse payable to Secretary on Friday, 28th December, 1883. Weights for Publicans' Purse will be declared after the Now Year Handicap has been run for, and acceptance will be received up to a quarter-of -an-hour before the race. i 111 the event of a walk over, only 50 per cent, of the stakes will be paid. No entry will be received except upon the condition that all claims, disputes and objections arising shall be decided by the Stewards, or whom they may appoint, and their decision shall be final. All protests must be accompanied with a deposit of 2 soys, which will be forfeited to the funds of the Club should the Stewards consider the protest frivolous or vexatious.
