Aichdeacon Willis who, in his opening address, mentioned the circumstance that just a year ago the foundation block of the chinch was laid by the Bishop. Since then, by the efforts of the congregation, he •was happy to say, the building had been nearly freed from debt. It is not our intention to critici.se the performances of the lady and gentlemen amateurs who so kindly came fiom Hamilton and Cambridge to assist in the entertainment ; it will suffice to .say that, with one or two exception--, every item on the programme wa.s thoioughly successful, and fully deserved the applause which the audience willingly accorded. The following is the programme :— "Pianofm to .solo, Mrs Picketing ; qiuutette, " Sweet and Low," Misses Blight and Young, Messis Momo and Sims ; «ong, "The Village Blacksmith," Mr J. Barugh ; song, "The Rising of the Lark," Mrs L. B. Ewen ; sonsy, "Sailing," Mi C. Hunter; reading, "Noithern Farmer (old style);" song, "Listening Angels," Mrs Howard Jackson; song, "When Night is Darkest," Mr Sims; trio, "Hark! 'tis the Indian Dium," Mrs, Miss and Mr J. Barugh ; song, "He thinks I do not love him," Miss Mary McPherson ; song, " The Angel at tlie Window," Mr H. W. Mooio; song, " Five o'clock in the morning,'' Mrs Seaiancke; recitation, "The Tragedy," Mr (ireviUo Smith ; song, ''At the Feiry,'' Miss Selby ; .song, " Three Jolly Sailor Bo.vV Mr Ellis; song, "The Captive Knight, "' Mrs Howard Jackson ; pianofoi te solo, Miss Sandes ; song, " True till Death," Mis.s Hunter ; song, "Four Jolly Smiths," Mr H.
