TUE GOVERNOR AT TARANAKI. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] New Ptymouth, Saturday.
The Governor arrived at no.ni, and landed at the Breakwater. A large number of people weie present, and an address was presented by tho Chairman of the Harbour Board. In reply the Governor Haid he had landed on many breakwaters, but never had known such admirable arrangements as those he had just expeiienced. He had observed that the work had a substantial appearance which he had not expected to see. He had no conception it was nuch a creditable word. During the last thirty-one years he might say that he had lived among breakwaters, and he had been in the habit of seeing blocks made and placed in position in breakwaters of various descriptions, and therefore they might naturally suppose that he fully understood a work of that olas*. His Excellency then drove iuto town, where a large number of countiy settlers were assembled. He passed tlnough two tiiumphal arches to thfc Government Buildings, where nearly 1000 children weie g.ifcheiecl who .sung 1 the National Anthem, and the Boiough Council piesented an address. Addresses were also presented from the County Council and Friendly Societies. In reply, Hi* Excellency said he had never expeiienced a more enthusiastic reception than on that day. Ho seemed much pleased with the place.
