WELLINGTON, Last Night.

A daughter of J. (xouie, fanner, Whitemans Valley, ue,\v Upper Hutt, died suddenly on Saturday. She had boon to Wellington, and on her return for home &he complained of being ill. Dv Hay, of Dunedin, the referee m the lOcent chess match between Ohristchurch and Wellington, has, decided as follows with regard to three games which were bubmitted to him :— No. 1, between Mr Hookham (Ohri&tchurch) and Mr Benbow (Wellington), drawn game ; No. 4, between Mr Moore (Ohristchurch) and Mr "W. Hiltern (Wellington), drawn, gftwa j No. 8, between Mr Smith. (ChUfctehureh) and Mr Searle (Wellington), won by Mr dearie. The final .score of the match shows Wellington to have won by two games.
