An offici.il yellow-book, regarding the Franco-Chinese difficulty, has been tabled, and confirms the recent intelligence that the negotiations between the Marquis Tseng and the French Government are at a standstill. The documents show that the Chinebe Government demanded that^ Tonquin »hould be evacuated by the French forces and that they should exercise exclusive control over the Red River. It is further made apparent that the French Government hopes that the reinforcements sent to Tonquin will accomplish the fact of bringing China to reason.
