SUDDEN DEATH OF MR E. G. McMINN.
It is with feelings of the deepest regret that we have to announce the sudden demise of Mr Edward Graham McMiun, of "Harapcpej whidli evjept took place, at, hi 3 residulice' ydsterday morning. The sad intelligence was conveyed to us in the followlng'telegram from our Alexandra correspondent :— " Mr Edward Graham' McMinn, ex M.H.R. for Wnipi, died suddenly at hts residence, H.irapepe, early thiiTHorhiriß. ' Deceased had been at work lwrd all the previous day, and returning home e«U ;i hearty siippcr and retired to rest. Hib boy, Cogswell, on B«in£ to his room this morning' to c.tll him to breakfast, found him dc.ul. Univers.il regret is expressed here at tho untimely a ( nd sudden'' death of the deceased. Few men in the Waikato were bettor known or moye 1 universally respected than Mr McMinn, and his death is certain to call forth sentiments of genuine regret. The deceased gentleman represented Waipa in 'Parliament for one session, losing his seat at the general election in 1870, and has always taken an active and intelligent interest 'in local and general politics. He has resided in the Waikato ever since its settlement, having ■ come here during the war as sergeant-major of Yon Tempsky's Forest Eaugers. The deceased, who was in the prime of life, was, we believe, a native of County Antrim, Ireland. An inquest will be held 'to-day at 1 p.m., and , the funeral will leave the residence of .deceased at 2 p.m. to-moirow. Doubtless his old friends, and they are many, will assemble from far and near to pay a last tribute to one whom in life they all respected.
