THE LA TE FATAL A CCIDENT AT PUKERIMU.
Inquest on the Body. The inquest on the body of Dora Kennedy, aged seven years, was held on Saturday last at the residence of her father, Mr George Kennedy, before tbe Coroner, Thomas Grresham, Esq., and a jury of twelve, of whom Mr John Fisher was chosen foreman. From tho evidence of Alice Berfha and Mary Elizabeth Kennedy, sisters of the deceased, it appeared that the three children were on their fathor's' farm on Thursday afternoon. The two elder daughters were in charge of a horso and dray for the purpose of collecting firewood, and the deceased was riding in the dray, no other person being present. The eldest girl took the bit out of the horse's mouth in order to let it feed, and the winkers caused the animal to take fnght, when it bolted with the dray towards a gully. The dray was overturned, and deceased thrown violently out, death ensuing in five minutes. Dr. Bluuden, having examined the body, deposed that five of the ribs wero broken on tho right side, and that death must have been almost instantaneous. The jury returned a verdict of *' accidental death," in accordance with the evidence.
