FATAL ACCIDENT AT PUKERIMU.
A sad accident occurred at Pukerimu, ou Thursday afternoon last, which resulted in the death of a little girl named Dora Kinnertyt aged seven, the daughter ' of a settler named George Kinnerly residing at Pukerimu. The unfortunate little girl left her home at about 2 o'clock in a dray, in company with her sister Bertha, for the purpose of gathering firewood. When about 300 yards from the house the elder girl, Bertha, loosened the winkers on the horse's head so that he might graze, the younger sister remaining in the dray. The winkers having fallen off, the horse bolted in the direction of a deep gully, over which both horse, dray and occupant were precipitated. Assistance was immediately procured and the remains of the child, who was dead when picked up, were brought home. The gully over whiah the dray was precipitated is steep, and about 50 feet deep. Much sympathy is felt in the neighbourhood for the bereaved parents. An inquest will probably be held.
