11l reply to a question, Mr Dick stated that the police were instructed to act under the compulsory clauses of the Education Act. Several nesv bills were introduced and read a first time. The Fencing Bill was read a second time. Mr Murray's Duration of Parliaments Bill was thiown out on the motion for second leading by 63 to 3. Mr Slnimski's Pensions Bill was considcied in committee, and undeiwent amendment and was reported. The Adoption of Children Bill was considered in committee, and reported with amendments. Mr Bow en moved the second reading of the Vagrant Act Amendment Bill. Messrs Dick, McLean, and Brown opposed the bill, and on Mr Seddon commencing to speak the House was counted out.
