Banquet to Ministers. London, August 6.
The banquet given to Ministers by the Libfral jjdi ty, in lecognition of the policy can led out by the Government, took place at the Mansion House. All the members of the Ministry wero present, including Mr Gladstone, whose health has greatly improved. Severn! important speeches were made, but the chief was that by the Premier in reply to the toast of the evening. In the comae of his address Mr Gladstone announced that measures would shortly be intioduced for the reform of the procedure of the House of Commons. Iv alluding to the present state of affairs in Afghanistan he stated that he deemed any internal meddling in that country would be a mistake, but Government Mould respect the integrity of AfFghanist.in. In conclusion, in referring to colonial affairs, Mr Gladstone stated that Mmi&tcs would icluujuish the name of Englishmen befoie they would renounce the giv.it duties they felt they posessed m connection with the colonies.
