The Native Disturbance near Pungarehu. Wellington, Last Night.
With reference to the alleged obstruction of road making near Pugarehu by natives, it appears from information received by the Government that the pit in which the natives collected and refused to move from was one opened by a contractor without any authority from the Government, on a piece of land at present reserved for the natives. The Government have ordered the contractor to Btop any work in connection with the pit and immediately fill it up.
Wellington Hospital. The new Hospital is to be opened this evening with a grand ball, under the auspices of His Excellency and Lady Gordon.
Aquatics. White, who is to row against Hearn, has arrived from Auckland ; he is in fine condition.
